Help Maine Icons Grow!
Icons on the Inc. 5000
For a small New England state, Maine really knows business. The proof is in Inc. Magazine’s 36th annual 5000 list of fast growing companies which includes twelve companies from Maine. We’re not surprised that three of our Maine Icons made this year’s list.
Maine Icon Heather Blease, CEO and founder of SaviLinx in Brunswick credits her team with the growth they’ve enjoyed. “I founded SaviLinx to deliver the customer service and tech support solutions that our customers needed the most. We knew that if we did our best by our customers and our employees, that our growth would follow. I’m delighted to achieve this milestone, and credit the hard work and support of our entire team,” stated Blease in a release on the achievement.
Maine Icon Kevin French, CEO and his team at Landry / French Construction in Scarborough, moved up in the rankings in their second year on the list. “We are honored to be included on this prestigious list for the second consecutive year. This is a testament to our superior client service and the dedication of our employee-owners,” mentioned French in a company release.
Maine Icon Joshua Broder, CEO of Tilson Technology in Portland has the longest tenure for this annual recognition. “Seven years later, staying on the Inc. 5000 is an incredible honor for us,” Broder said to Mainebiz. “As Tilson has grown, so too has our resolve to work harder and smarter, never taking our success for granted. While this honor highlights that we are positioned for sustained growth, the credit belongs to our 280 employees, who are building America’s information infrastructure every day.”
Additional updates
Maine Icon Heather Sanborn, of Rising Tide Brewing, joined a panel discussion for NPR’s OnPoint Local in early August to discuss a number of topics. The panel was held at the University of Southern Maine’s Hannaford Hall in front of a live audience. Sanborn stated that her primary focus right now is on health care. With the future of the American Health Care Act in question, the Maine legislature is watching the debate play out.
Sanborn posted this update on her Facebook page regarding health care efforts in the legislature:
“Today was a good day. The Legislative Council unanimously approved the creation of a bipartisan Task Force on Health Care Coverage for All of Maine. The task force grew out of fruitful and collaborative discussions among members of the Insurance and Financial Services Committee during the session. Unlike the broken process in Washington, we are very hopeful that this task force might put Maine in a position to implement thoughtful, bipartisan health insurance reforms going forward. We’ll attack the issues with a problem-solving and consensus-building mind-set and see how far we can get for the good of all Mainers!”
Maine Icon Shawn Moody celebrated the opening of his newest Moody’s Collision location in Wells, Maine. Moody and his team are spending their summer supporting a host of great causes including: Androscoggin Hospice, K9s on the Front Line, Safe Kids Maine/AAA of Northern New England, the Maine Blue Collar Scholarship program, the Ronald McDonald House, and Camp Sunshine just to name a few!
Maine Icon Kevin French is keeping his team busy this summer with several major projects in the Greater Portland area. They are working on the ConvenientMD building on Marginal Way, the Colby Student Apartment Complex, the Patriot Insurance building, and the India Street residence projects Luminato and India/Newbury buildings.
